The 14th edition of Afrovibes Festival is from 28 September until 9 October. The festival presents both young pioneers and established talent in theatre, dance, music, poetry, fashion and design from Africa in The Netherlands. Afrovibes shows the dynamic cultural life in creative hubs in urban Africa, this year in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and Congo. The festival takes place in Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and Rotterdam and brings a diverse programme of performances, theatre, dance, debates and afterparties at a variety of locations.

The festival’s theme is Fragile Freedom. How can we understand each other in these turbulent times? Do we listen to each other? Freedom of movement and the connection with other people, regardless of colour or origin, seem to fade. Democracy seems to become fragile. Contemporary African and Dutch artists show how they experience our fierce times and how they look at their past and at the future. Some of the festival’s programmes are also part of Black Achievement Month.
